The technical architecture, on one page

For your planners and engineers: what is installed in the building, how it communicates, what comes out and for whom. Printable in A4 for your files.

WIRING

What to run (and what not to run)

  • Building Internet router (mandatory): ideally fibre; the subscription is paid by the building and usually taken out by the property manager. 4G exists only as a backup option.
  • Per door station: one Cat 6 cable (PoE supply) in an empty conduit to the entrance, and the door release supply (12/24 V AC or DC depending on the model) per controlled door.
  • PoE switch in the plant room: it is part of the active equipment, like the door station and the gateway. In new builds the electrician buys it to the references we specify; in renovation Neolia supplies it. Provide its space and its 230 V socket.
  • Gateway(s): 230 V supply and Ethernet connection (Cat 6) to the router, on a middle floor or at a high point on the riser, not in the basement: the plant room is only a fallback. As soon as the building spreads out, allow for a second Cat 6 cable left ready (high point on the riser or another position): the Neolia micro-survey sets the exact number of cables and gateways when it checks the drawings, with no effect on the price.
  • Meters and sensors: no metering wiring, LoRaWAN radio communication.
  • Monitoring modules: they are not battery powered. Per monitored plant room, one 230 V supply and one free slot on a DIN rail (the module needs a permanent 7 to 24 V DC), at the rate of one module for two monitored devices.
  • Nothing else: no intercom riser, no M‑Bus, no floor concentrator.
VALIDATION

Every project is checked on the drawings

Before work starts, Neolia approves the positions, runs the radio coverage micro-survey, confirms the meter models with you, then supplies the exact provisions drawing. The software configuration is done entirely remotely: no programming on site.

RequirementsThe detail per trade package is in Requirements for your trade packages (builders) and Technical requirements (installers).
M‑BUS VARIANT

The wired alternative, if the project calls for it

Metering can alternatively be done over wired M‑Bus (owner’s preference, existing meter base). The platform, the statements and the features stay the same: the M‑Bus concentrator is preconfigured and talks directly to the platform. But this variant brings back what radio removes: the vertical bus to run between floors. It therefore gives up part of the structural saving and is priced case by case.
